Description

Commission for the board game "Swords of the Seven" by Kanachi : [link]

For this painting I was inspired by the work of Andre Pater, especially for the background. And the pattern's dress was completely inspired by Klimt.

The story of this character was very important because it determined his design and my way of thinking is quite symbolic:

Akhanda was once a weapon smith and strategist of some renown and there was a time when many kingdoms sought his council. However, as time passed his vanity and desire to test his skills lead him into the ranks of Grongar the bloodthirsty giant king.

It was only later, when he saw Grongar’s vile nature first hand, that he realised the true horror he had assisted in unleashing upon the world. This realisation ultimately drove Akhanda to plot the destruction of Grongar’s kingdom from within. However, even though the brutal empire eventually fell the giant king was able to escape, taking his remaining followers into the distant lands of the far north.

Akhanda has roamed the world ever since, hoping to make amends for the evils of his past as a sword for hire!

I wanted to highlight its former and faded glory, especially with his white and gold rajput armor and his blade. Because he fled to the north and traveled the world in search of redemption, I wanted that people feels his wandering in his appearance . That's why I put some very étéroclites elements in his costume to remind his many travels (like sheep fur and leather armor from nordic & celtic culture). The red color is here to remind his nickname : bloodthirsty, but not to much because it refers to his evil past. Furthermore I used a portrait of Vlad Tepes in order to design his face, cold and experienced, but his expression is voluntarily a little bit sad to highlight his desire to make amends for his past.

I really work hard to paint more like a professionnal and I still have a lot of effort to do.

THIS WORK MAY NOT BE USED IN ANY WAY WHITHOUT KANACHI'S PERMISSION.
