I started this illustration .... well ... 8 months ago. I changed my mind, changed his appearance, changed everything ... and I hadn't enough motivation and self confidence to end it. It was really hard, I spent hours on it but finally I finished it, and I'm ... a little bit proud of this one even if there is lots of mistakes in it, especially lights.
I decided to paint Li Jian when he realizes that he his the last of his order. I wanted to paint his guilt and anger against himself.
Anyway, I hope you'll like it.
Here the story of Li Jian, made by Ian Pittock for his board game : Swords of the seven
Li-Jian lived atop a sacred mountain under the tutelage of the wise masters of the order of the sky. Here he studied the ways of the monks around him, becoming a master swordsman and martial artist.
Li-Jian’s impatience to learn and master ever more power techniques lead him to sneak into the orders inner sanctum and steel the forbidden scroll, thinking that it contained lore which could accelerate his learning. As he read from the scroll however he unleashed a horrific power upon the world, for the order had long ago trapped the demon prince Bhal-Dagoth within its sacred words.
Bhal-Dagoth’s re-emergence into the mortal world shattered the temple walls, burying Li-Jian as the demon measured out his vengeance upon the unsuspecting monks. By the time Li-Jian had scrambled free from the rubble the demon had left and he was alone, the last of his order.
Li-Jian now ventures where the stars guide him and makes what living he can as a sword for hire!
